WILL Symposium, Kyoto: Gen Z's Role in the Future of the Metaverse
I had the honor of presenting at the World Learning Labs Symposium 2025 at Kyoto University of Foreign Studies in Kyoto, Japan (the symposium ran April 13–15). My talk, “From the Classroom to the Workplace: Gen Z’s Emerging Adoption of the Metaverse,” explored how Generation Z is not just experiencing immersive technologies, they’re helping shape them. I focused on how institutional touchpoints, like education and job training, introduce the Metaverse, and how Gen Z’s responses leave behind behavioral blueprints for future engagement.
The question I keep circling back to is whether we are preparing this generation to simply adapt to new systems, or if we can help them question and reimagine them.
