Lecturing on The Metaverse: Everyday Life & The Future

This spring term, I gave guest lectures in two sociology courses at ICU: Principles of Sociology and Sociology of the Family. We explored the Metaverse not just as a technological concept, but as a social phenomenon in motion. I introduced the history and definitions of the Metaverse, shared examples of real-world initiatives in Japan, and invited students to reflect on how these developments might shape their personal lives and society at large.

Teaching in this context reminded me how powerful it is to treat technology as a cultural and relational force, not just a tool.
